HOW TO CHOOSE A MOTORCYCLE AIRBAG
Wearable airbag systems, currently offer the highest degree of protection for the motorcycle rider. The airbag can be integrated directly into a suit or jacket, or as a separate vest independent of any garment. Protection occurs upon system activation, in the form of airbag inflation which reinforces the top half of the body, protecting the shoulders, chest, abdomen, spine and back.
The market is served by either mechanical (cable) or electronic (software) controlled systems. We decided to offer our customers the electronic option, for several reasons:
- System functionality - perfect protection can only happen if it is available when needed. Therefore, it is important that at the moment the rider falls from the motorcycle, they are already protected. The air bag must be 100% inflated. The advantage of the electronic system is the rapid assessment of a dangerous situation, and its subsequent activation with an incredible performance of full inflation in just a few milliseconds.
- Use and operation - nowadays computer literacy and smartphones make electronically controlled airbags accessible, and easy. At one of our stores, we shall initialise the system, explain everything properly, and remain available to answer any questions.
- Scope of protection - airbag systems are primarily aimed at dealing with the consequences of accidents such as spinal injuries, and the threat of permanent paralysis. The airbag reinforces the upper half of the body, reducing the risk of spinal injury. The neck, however, remains free as solid fixation may cause transmission of shock energy directly into the spinal column, which can be fatal.
- Service - Service support is also an important consideration in the choice of system. This should be provided by trained specialists and in a timely manneR.
PSí HUBÍK s.r.o. have been an official certified partner for the implementation of Alpinestars TECH-AIR® airbag systems in PSi® products since 2018. They are the first service centre for airbag systems in the Czech Republic, providing customers a 10-working day turnaround time.
AIRBAG TYPE DEPENDENT ON RIDING STYLE
SELECT THE AIRBAG FOR WHERE YOUR RIDE!
The racer and road traveller have different safety needs. The electronically controlled airbag utilises different algorithms to evaluate dangerous situations. On the circuit these are primarily the likes of a "high side" whereas in normal traffic the most common threats are impacts with obstacles.
TECH-AIR® RACE AIRBAG SYSTEM
Software controlled TECH-AIR® airbag system from ALPINESTARS. Does not restrict movement. Super-fast inflation. Works with accelerometer and gyroscope sensors, and does not require a GPS connection. User friendly operation, switchable between RACE and STREET modes depending on riding style. An airbag system integrated directly in the suit or jacket.
RACING GRID AIRBAG
RACING GRID AIRBAG is the one-piece race suit model, in the PSi® collection, with an integrated TECH-AIR® system. The suit was designed, from the start, for use with the airbag and comes complete with the system installed. Preparation consists of placing leather stretch panels in places needed to accommodate bag inflation, along with an implementation kit utilising LEDs on the sleeve, for monitoring the system status.
